TWO BUCK TUESDAY
TWO BUCK TUESDAY
As per usual - welcome to Two Buck Tuesday. Whether your wallet is recovering from last weekend, or getting ready for next weekend, it doesn't mean that you shouldn't be enjoying some delicious food. Read on below for this week's pair of affordable tasty eats:
Little known fact of movie magic – When the Avengers saved New York City from intergalactic invaders and then decided to go grab some Shwarma afterwards – the spot they went to get that Shwarma… was actually in L.A.
You’d think after blowing up half the city they’d at least have the decency to drop that Iron Man cash on someplace local. In particular, some place like Shwarma House.
Just south of Bryant Park this is our go-to when we’re looking for those tasty rotating meat skewers and men with long knives shaving them down and into a pita.
You’ll find two skewers here, one chicken the other a beef/lamb combo. Most folks swear by the chicken, but I’m a fan of the beef/lamb. My vegetarian girlfriend will have neither – but no fret, they also serve some delicious falafels.
You don’t have to travel as far as the Himalayas for some delicious and inexpensive Himalayan food. (Granted some island dwellers might argue that having to travel to Jackson Heights, is basically the same as travelling half way around the world.)
Nonetheless, should you make the trek all the way to Queens you’ll find a cornucopia of South Asian dishes – all delicious and all affordable. The house speciality though is the Dhendo – a buckwheat mash mixed with veggies and proteins - and it should not be missed/
