I’m planning on a night out in the Meatpacking district with my girlfriend, but want to grab dinner someplace nice before hand. Any recommendations?

Although more in SoHo than the meatpacking district I don’t think you could possibly go wrong with an early dinner at Estela.

It’s a cozy (and slightly slanted) dining room on Houston run by chef of Ignacio Matto, formerly of Isa. Be forewarned the place can get loud and cramped if you come at peak hours – but since your intention is to get in early and then keep trucking this would be the perfect spot.

The menu is as varied as it is delicious. Hopefully you’re meat eaters and can order the steak tartar since it is by far one of the best in the city.

The cocktails and wine list are likewise amazing and will certainly help you get an early buzz before you descend into the crowded bar and club scene in the meatpacking district.

Enjoy!
