Stacy Asks:

It’s hump day. I could use a little comfort food as reward for the work so far done, and then a stiff cocktail (or six) to brace me for all the work I have yet to do before the weekend. Any thoughts?

Let me ask you Stacy: Do you like Meatballs. All different kinds and varieties served in various combinations. And then – do you enjoy your drinks in a speak easy style basement with a cheeky clever name.

For your comfort food I suggest you hit The Meatball Shop in Chelsea (On 9th Ave. between 23rd and 22nd.) There you will find a laminated menu and a sharpie. Off the menu pick the style, number of and sauce for your meatballs and then hang back and wait for the tasty meat morsels to arrive.

If you were at any of the other Meatball Shop locations around town, around this point you would have to make do with either wine or beer. Lucky for you – this location has a full liquor license so you can pick up that sharpie again and that laminated cocktail menu and order your cocktail just like you did your meatballs.

If after your meal you still have a little room, and perhaps that suspicious looking door towards the back isn't open yet - consider a little more comfort food in the form of a delicious ice cream sandwich.

If that door is open, head downstairs to the cheekily named underballs where you can continue your drinking in peace as you contemplate exactly how much booze you’re going to need to get through the next 48 hours and into the weekend.

Enjoy!
